Introduction

Die Brut (short: DB as in Destruktive Brut) originally emerged from an online gaming community, ran in the ÖH elections in Klagenfurt in 2005 as well as in 2007 and both times just closely missed the election target of one mandate. In the sense of a better representation of the students Die Brut used itself at that time among other things for an increase of the mandate numbers in the constantly growing University of Klagenfurt. This would not only mean the entry of a strong opposition into the ÖH Klagenfurt (in the form of Die Brut), but also a rounding out of the political spectrum, thus expanding the ideological base of the student representation and its legitimacy.
